Dr. Karen Pirnot

Dr. Pirnot has worked with children and families in various capacities for the past fifty years.  While in private practice in Iowa, she worked extensively with children and adults in the juvenile justice system.  She has also worked in consultating for schools and hospitals.

As a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Pirnot has spoken to groups and lectured in universities.  In addition to her work with children and families, Dr. Pirnot has worked with female inmates in the prison system and with death and dying issues with geriatric residents in long term care facilities.

Dr. Pirnot is married, with three children whom she raised prior to her return to school for graduate work.  After moving from Iowa, she had a private practice in Sarasota, Florida prior to her retirement in 2005.

Following her retirement, Dr. Pirnot began to publish books she had written during her clinical practice years.  She writes about the imagination and motivation of children while attempting to empower the child characters in her books.  Many of her adult novels also contain interactions with children, with emphasis on respectful and growth-oriented interactions between and among the generations.  Dr. Pirnot is currently engaged in writing about character disorders which prevent healthy interactions between individuals and couples.

Dr. Pirnot is available for speaking engagements and book signings.  All queries for personal appearances should be directed to publisher Julie Ann Howell at Peppertree Publishing.
